Best for beginners in SMPS design
I just got my diploma in EE and i never learned in school about power electronics and switching-mode power supply design, but i got job in this field. I bought 4 books: "Switching Power Supply Design, 3rd Ed.", "Switch-Mode Power Supplies Spice Simulations and Practical Designs", "Switching Power Supplies A to Z", and "Switchmode Power Supply Handbook 3/E". First and Third book I already read from A to Z. Second I already read half through. Now I'm reading "Switchmode Power Supply Handbook 3/E" which is the best for beginners, like me because it goes very dip into low side of mead range (to 1kW) direct off-line switchmode power supply design and it creates very good foundation for designing even high power SMPS. To start designing high power direct off-line SMPS ( up to 100kW or even more) you need to mastered first this book than you can read "Switching Power Supply Design, 3rd Ed.". This is my advice for such people like me!!!

Great Coverage of All Aspects of SMPS Design
Covers all the necessary issues required to design a SMPS. Many things that an engineer might not think of. Could use more analytical approaches to inductor and transformer design, relies on plots of parameters for component selection. Great info on transformer design in the real world. Line filtering, inrush currents etc. are all covered. Not a lot on MOSFET selection.
