I have zero attitude and zero interest in mathematics. My interest in Emmy Noether springs from the fact that she was born and raised in Erlangen, the town where I spent three years in the US Army (1966-68), and the subject of a book I later wrote (Erlangen-An American's History of a German Town). I enjoyed the parts dealing with Erlangen and its university while the parts about math went over my head.
