If you want to blindly memorize a hodgepodge of formulas use Hibbler's book. If you truly want to understand the mechanics of deformable bodies as an exact and rigorous branch of mechanics that will set you up with the foundations of solid mechanics for lifelong success use this book instead. I would then read Fundamentals of Structural Mechanics, 2nd Edition, by the same author as the next step. After this, you will much easier be able to master continuum mechanics, the theory of linear and non
