Great little book about the history of operations research / applied statistical analysis
This is a concise (very concise) timeline of operations research - the real granddaddy of all subsequent forms of applied research into how well something/some enterprise works. It is very interesting how so many of the tools (basic stats tests) are actually relatively recent developments.
