Dense, precise, elegant -- but not ideal for every purpose
This is a very thorough and elegant presentation of modern set theory by a renowned specialist. In combination with Thomas Jech's "Set Theory", it provides a great resource for self-study, presuming at least a graduate student's level of "mathematical maturity". I feel that as a standalone text for self-study, Schindler's book is perhaps too dense (at least this is true for this reader). But combined either with the possibility of asking questions to a teacher, or else with Jech's book, it is a
