First I would like to thank the author for excellent piece of work, the book is 200 paged but don't be deceived by its size, the book is high in level and is not recommended for students who are starting to read in the field of numerical analysis, this book is advisable to people whom are working in the computational fluid dynamics field which uses the finite difference method especially. It cover lots of hints and summarizes ideas that are fundamental for understanding CFD codes parameters and what they mean example the meaning of the CFL condition, the type of time stepping scheme using the Runge Kutta method, the types of differencing schemes their accuracy. It cover two curve fitting methods in the first chapter. The second chapter covers some methods for numerical integration with comments on their accuracy . This book would be very beneficial for the researcher based on the fact that it would proved him with a quick reference to go back to. The examples solved in the book are provided by the author (in MATLAB format) on his web site which can also be helpful.

Molto buono per preparare esami di metodi numerici ad Ingegneria Meccanica. Fa uso di conoscenze matematiche non molto sofisticate che anche se non si sono acquisite in passato si possono studiare.
